Pop the valve cover off, turn the cam until you can see the numbers on the cam (It will be HC-??) then call hotcams and give them the number and ask what stage it is. Once you replace the valves or put a very tiny shims in to get back to factory specs inspect your filter and intake boot for cracks. id take the valve out of the head and look them over. get rid of all carbon. make sure theres not valve marks on top of the piston or oil laying on top of the piston, make sure to adjust valves when your all done before you try to start it. 1999 honda 400ex bored 0.40over. new timing chain. new pistion and rings.
