Oct 23, 2015 #1 I've long admired nice capos, and owned most of what I considered the best models, from the Dan Crary brass capo, old Golden Gate, current Elliott, to original McKinney capos. One that I'd never got around to was the KatEyz. The V shape just seems to find the correct centering instantly, and then needs very little tightening to ring true. Great customer service which included bending the ... The vast majority of my capo use is as follows: Elliott, Stokes, Kat-Eyz. Coincidentally, or not, that is also the quantitative order in which I own capos by those makers. I could easily recommend any of them. If forced to choose, my preference would probably lean toward the McKinney-Elliott for the simplicity and sleek design.

Look at Kat Eyz capos. I have one for my D18 in stainless steel. They're about $100 but I think they're as nice as the Elliott Mckinney. The owner is very nice too. Each capo is custom made for your guitar.

Feb 19, 2022 · The Kat Eyz has a super slim profile....is symmetrical back to front (for leftys)...weighs nothing. Phil had me take measurements of the neck (presumably to figure out how long to make the screw.....since lots of us don't play low profile necks).

I use one of those half inch wide leather straps with a button on it on the headstock just beyond the nut (again, like lots or people). I use a pretty standard leather strap with the thinner, adjustable end attached to the nut strap. The Kat Eyz has a "top gate", if I'm interpreting what you mean correctly - the top unclamps and then swings open to get the capo on and off. But it's not a particularly easy opening type of clamp, so if I can't find a way to comfortably leave it on, behind the nut, I'll likely just resort to using a G7th or one of my other "C" type side ...Mar 23, 2023 · Don't want to sound like I'm shilling for Kat Eyz but they'll made one as wide as you like, the exact radius you need, they cost about 100 bucks and he'll usually get it to you in a week or so. I use two capos with plastic sleeves (Kat Eyz and McKinney), but only one with a rubber pad (Shubb), so I can't compare degrees of hardness. However, I have discovered that the position of the capo on the fret does make a substantial difference in sound.
